Establishment of Storage Go-down Project for BENFED/CONFED/ Co-operative Societies (Agriculture Sector) -RIDF-XV. The said project is of type Agriculture and Allied. This Project envisions Construction of 064 number of Storage Go-downs to the Cooperative Societies in 13 Districts of West Bengal. The estimated Project cost is Rs. 2, 961.65 lacs and this would result to a cumulative capacity addition of 1, 00, 131 M.T. of Storage Infra-structure. The Co-operation Department, Government of West Bengal is the Implementing Department of this Project. The List of these Go-downs is enclosed in ANNEXURE-I and ANNEXURE-II.
The West Bengal State Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd. (BENFED) will be the Project Implementing Agency (PIA) for the said construction of Storage Go-downs. The Co-operative Society will provide the Land (under their absolute possession) required for construction of the said Storage Go-down and the same would be constructed from Financial Assistance under RIDF-XV. After construction, the said go-downs will be handed over to the respective Cooperative Societies.

BENFED, the apex society of West Bengal that is engaged in the business of marketing of agricultural produce & agricultural inputs, warehousing and consultancy has been appointed by the Co-operation Department, Government of West Bengal as the PIA for implementing the Project of Construction of 64 Rural Storage Go-downs in different districts of West Bengal under R.I.D.F.-XV.
Under this Project, Benfed requires Civil/Electrical Engineers as Engineering Consultants purely on contractual basis for supervision of construction of said go-downs.
- Qualification & Experience required:
Qualification: Diploma/Graduate in Civil/Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Candidate with Field Experience in Civil/Electrical Engineering Projects will have added advantage.
Candidates with required experience available to join immediately may appear for a Walk-In-Interview on April 10, 2010 at 11.30 A.M. in the Head Office of BENFED with their resume and testimonials. Candidates who will not be able to appear for the Walk-In-Interview may send their resume by courier/post for need in future.

BENFED’s Golden Jubilee Celebration
BENFED observed its Golden Jubilee Celebration on 20 th February, 2010 at Uttam Mancha with a very colourful manner. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Rabindra Ghosh , Hon’ble Minister –In-Charge ,Cooperation Department ,Government of West Bengal by lighting 50 lamps as a mark of 50th Anniversary of its establishment.
Chief Guest Dr. Asim Dasgupta , Minister-In-Charge , Finance Department , Government of West Bengal in his speech expressed confidence that an organization with 50 years of its existence deserved appreciation . He admired that BENFED had rise up to the occasion and working for development of the Cooperative movement of West Bengal. Turnover of BENFED crossed Rs.900 crores which was worth appreciating. He assured all sorts of assistance from the State Government in fulfilling the demands of the farmers of West Bengal.
Chairman, BENFED expressed sincere thanks to all members of the organization, employees, State Government , other Cooperative institutions of State as well as of National level . Approx. 700 participants from members cooperatives ,employees and other cooperative institutions and business associates attended the meeting. |
STATE GOVERNMENT STARTS PURCHASE OF POTATO THROUGH BENFED
To arrest the price crash and to give remunerative price to the farmers State Government launched scheme for direct purchase of potato from the growers through different agencies. BENFED has been selected as one of the principal agents and allotted a target of 5,50,000 MT . The price fixed at Rs.350/- per quintal at farmers level and Rs.48/- would further be provided as cost of bag, assortment, weighment, transport charge etc. BENFED has already started procurement operation in all the districts of West Bengal in consultation with District Administration and Zilla Parishad from the growers exclusively through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies and Primary Agricultural Marketing Societies. Farmers desirous to get this benefit may contact the local PACS/PAMS or BENFED branch offices. |
